Author KC Wilder – The Secrets of Humorous Poetry in the “Wilder Blue Yonder” by R. Davison
Wilder once termed himself a author trapped inside a person’s body. He is also the father of fauxbrow, a wide-reaching American art and writing that conflates lowbrow and fauvism with a pronounced, airy wonder.
Wilder’s landscape alters so fast, the poet has to sweat just to keep up with it: groupies on the loopy allen ginsberg memorial speedway, seemingly another buncha sloppy bop appropriators, hunter thompson wannabes gunning gonzo engines thinking theyre insightful, mostly missing points! -from “#17: sports poem”
Wilder has taught writing at the state university of New York. He studied the craft of writing and inventing poetry from the Pulitzer prize winner Louis Simpson and studied singing and songwriting for many years from a colleague of Sir Laurence Olivier, the legendary Homeric poet Richard Dyer-Bennet.
KC Wilder’s talents and ventures in (and out of) the arts explore a big neighborhood – man of letters, artist, musician, web programmer, video producer, first amendment activist, photo producer, naturalist, and a former U.S. AAU-national champion athlete. He has performed to tens of thousands with a 40-piece classical symphony as a baritone soloist, and has roamed all around America as a singer , guitarist and perfomer. In the 90s he was well known in the publishing and mail art worlds for producing an influential music zine as well as dozens of literary digests, including noteworthy indy award-winners.
Lively, buoyant and jaunty, but also wry and indisputable. Wilder’s art rock travels and carries the listener with it. Some have recognized a trace of Jim Morrison in KC Wilder’s mutterings. If you could extract the essence of Ansel Adams and mix it up in a juicer with early Bob Dylan, you might reach a similar overall taste. A healthy bit of jazz poet Kenneth Nordine and possibly Fred Fellini.
Wilder offersa brand new disc of humorous poetry on bewilderama records. A performer and composer as well as poet, Wilder picks guitar on some of these anthems in addition to performing humorous poetry in cahoots with the impressive Acme Rocket Quartet.
